Biography
Richard Marks is a Professor at UNC-Chapel Hill in the School of Data Science and Society with a joint appointment in the Department of Computer Science. His research interests include AR/VR, machine learning, and context-aware systems. Most recently, he was a Director and Technical Project Lead for Google ATAP, exploring new interaction approaches for ambient computing environments. Prior to that, Richard was at PlayStation R&D where he founded the PlayStation Magic Lab and helped create the EyeToy, PlayStation Eye, PlayStation Move, and PlayStation VR. He is listed as inventor on over 100 patents and received a PhD from Stanford (1996) exploring visual sensing for underwater robots and a BS in Avionics from MIT (1990).
