UNC CS researchers had 11 publications accepted by the 2024 European Conference on Computer Vision, a biennial conference covering computer vision and machine learning. The papers came from the research groups of seven different UNC CS faculty members: Mohit Bansal, Gedas Bertasius, Tianlong Chen, Marc Niethammer, Stephen Pizer, Roni Sengupta, and Huaxiu Yao.

UNC Computer Science students and faculty had 8 papers accepted by the 2024 IEEE/CVF Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition (CVPR), one of the most prestigious and selective conferences in its field. Two of the papers were selected for highlight by the conference.
UNC Computer Science presents 14 papers at ICLR 2024
UNC CS personnel had 14 papers accepted by the 2024 International Conference on Learning Representations. Five of the papers were selected for spotlight posters, and the submissions came from six different research groups.
Blueprints for Preservation
Religious studies professor Lauren Leve is collaborating with computer scientist Jim Mahaney and Kathmandu locals to document the Swayambjunath, or “Swayambhu,” temple. Today, the team has conducted more than 30 interviews with temple priests, Buddhist monks, devoted visitors, and other people with traditional connections to the site.
Sengupta receives NIH Trailblazer Award to revolutionize endoscopy using computer vision
Assistant Professor Roni Sengupta was recognized with the NIH NIBIB Trailblazer R21 Award. The award will provide roughly $580,000 in total funding to develop a 3D modeling system that can revolutionize endoscopy by providing accurate reconstructions of internal organs.
