Demir wins Best Oral Presentation at MICCAI WBIR 2024

Doctoral student Basar Demir won the Best Oral Presentation award at the 2024 Workshop for Biomedical Image Registration (WBIR), held during the MICCAI conference. Demir presented an approach to train a generalizable deep registration network that works within and across image modalities.

UNC CS has 11 computer vision and machine learning publications accepted by ECCV 2024

UNC CS researchers had 11 publications accepted by the 2024 European Conference on Computer Vision, a biennial conference covering computer vision and machine learning. The papers came from the research groups of seven different UNC CS faculty members: Mohit Bansal, Gedas Bertasius, Tianlong Chen, Marc Niethammer, Stephen Pizer, Roni Sengupta, and Huaxiu Yao.

Niethammer awarded $3.3 million NIH grant to identify genetic markers of osteoarthritis

Professor Marc Niethammer received an NIH grant to develop a new framework that combines imaging and genetics to advance research for the treatment of osteoarthritis. The project, funded by $3,326,488 over five years, aims to identify early indicators and genetic targets for treatment by integrating deep learning with genome-wide association studies
