Briana Scurry joined the department in November 2021 and serves as the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Coordinator. She is primarily responsible for the oversight of all DEI initiatives and communication within the department, serving as a resource for students, staff, and faculty. She also leads the department in K-12 and community outreach and other initiatives designed to increase the representation and advocacy of historically resilient groups within computer science.

Briana received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the New York Institute of Technology in 2013, and a master’s in college student personnel from Bowling Green State University in 2016. She started her career in higher education with a focus on residence life and student affairs, but has focused her professional development on student leadership development, STEM, equity and inclusion education, and the K-12 pipeline to higher education.
