Windows Antivirus

Information on available antivirus software for Windows machines

Reviewed by Alan Forrest 4/17/14

All department and university owned machines should have antivirus software installed as part of the standard software load.  The Department is currently using Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) for antivirus and anti-malware protection.  Computer Services includes MSE as part of our standard image, and we also make it available to the departmental community for use on all machines.  Both x86 and x64 versions are available for download and installation.

If you are in Sitterson, you may browse to:  \\\Public Software distribution\Microsoft Security Essentials to download the latest versions.

We strongly recommend that you install antivirus protection on your personal machines, especially those connected to the campus network.  We require that antivirus protection be installed on all department owned machines.
