UNC CS Advising Workshop

November 6, 2019 @ 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm

Thinking about declaring CS as your major or minor? Already a CS major or minor planning the rest of your program of study? Have questions about whether you should do the BS or the BA? Interested in learning more about doing research or internship for credit and how study abroad transfer credit works?

For these questions and more, the Department of Computer Science in conjunction with General Advising will be holding a CS major/minor advising workshop on Wednesday, 11/6, from 5 to 6:30 pm in Sitterson 014. We’ll go over major/minor requirements, the process for putting together independent study opportunities such as research/internship for credit and the honors thesis option, and otherwise answer common questions and concerns. In particular, the department is redesigning the intro sequence for the major which, if all goes as planned, will roll out starting Fall 2020. Although not official yet, we’ll describe what those changes are expected to be and how it might affect your class planning if you are just starting or are thinking about starting the major.

Representatives from general advising will be on hand to also answer questions and help get you connected to the appropriate advising resources.
